MEET WSC BAY VILLAGE UNIT MEMBER JIM KETTREN…

Background: B.A. in Criminal Justice from Baldwin Wallace College; worked as an insurance investigator and private investigator; served as assistant chief of campus security;  and operated a talent agency and mobile DJ service:  J.J. Kelly Productions (1981-2000). Currently I work as a business development manager at Hyland Software and I serve as a City of Bay Village auxiliary police officer. I am a Ham radio operator. I’m also the creator and operations manager of BayComm. Recreation: I enjoy camping, boating, Zen, Tai Chi, CB radio operations (44 years’ experience), Ham radio operations (18 years’ experience). My call sign is KC8CXZ. History with the Westshore Regional CERT: I called Tricia in early 2012 about the BayComm concept, a volunteer, resident-based disaster preparedness CB radio club. She assisted in getting the word out. I joined the WSC in 2013 and have worked since that time to improve emergency radio operations in the Westshore area, developing interoperability with CERT and regional first responders. Future Goals: Having recently completed writing the WSC Communications Guidelines with Tricia and Logistics Chief Karen Matter, I would like to continue to increase awareness of the need for emergency communications. My goal is to establish a Neighborhood Ambassador Program, which would allow neighbor to help neighbor when power and phone service are down. On behalf of the residents of the Westshore communities, thank you, Jim, for your continuing efforts with regard to improving emergency communications. You’ve used your considerable knowledge and skills to be an agent of positive change!
